Poonch, Seven people, including two children, were killed after a house collapsed following a rain-triggered landslide in the Loran Domila Dhook area of Poonch district on Monday.
According to reports, the house was hit by a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall, trapping the occupants under the debris.
Soon after the incident, police, rescue teams and local residents launched a rescue operation to retrieve those trapped inside the collapsed structure.
After hours of strenuous efforts, rescuers recovered the bodies of all seven victims from the debris. The bodies were shifted to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities.
The deceased have been identified as Tanveer Ahmed (27), son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat; Zahida Begum (38), wife of Mohammad Rafiq Bhat; Shamim Akhter (33), wife of Raiz Ahmed Bhat; Shabnam Bano (31), wife of Abdul Majeed Bhat; Mohammad Irfan (17), son of Abdul Subhan Dar; Manan Rafiq (6), son of Mohammad Rafiq Bhat; and Aleesa (4), daughter of Mohammad Rafiq Bhat. All were residents of Mohalla Arigam, Tehsil Mandi, Poonch district.
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall continued to disrupt normal life across the Pir Panjal region, with relief and rescue operations underway in several remote and riverside areas of Poonch and Rajouri. Authorities are monitoring the situation as adverse weather conditions persist.
