Encounter Breaks Out During Anti-Terror Operation in Rajouri


Rajouri: An encounter broke out in the Gambhir Muglan area of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir during a joint anti-terror operation on Saturday.

According to a defence spokesperson, contact was established with terrorists at around 11:30 am during an intelligence-based joint operation conducted by the Indian Army along with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF.

“Today at around 11:30 am, contact was established with terrorists in the general area of Gambhir Muglan, Rajouri, during an intelligence-based joint operation conducted along with Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF,” the spokesperson said.

He said the troops responded swiftly with calibrated action following the contact.“A firefight ensued and an effective cordon has been established,” the spokesperson added.

Meanwhile, additional forces have been rushed to the area, and a cordon-and-search operation is underway to neutralise the terrorists.
