Lt Dr. Ujwala Koche and Cadet Zulikha Banoo Honoured with Prestigious DG NCC Awards

Kargil, DD, Government Degree College (GDC) Kargil has announced two achievements that have brought glory to the institution and the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Lt Dr. Ujwala Koche, College Director of Physical Education & Sports and Associate NCC Officer (2 Ladakh Battalion NCC, Kargil), has been conferred with the prestigious Director General NCC Plaque Award for her outstanding contributions to the National Cadet Corps.

The College has informed that she has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, securing Alpha grading with excellence in firing during the Refresher Course, mentoring cadets for the Mount Everest Expedition and the Youth Exchange Programme (YEP), and pioneering the introduction of NCC as a minor 4-credit course at the University of Ladakh. Her commitment to youth development, discipline, and adventure sports has greatly enriched NCC activities in Ladakh, it was added.

In another proud moment for the College, Cadet Zulikha Banoo has been awarded the esteemed DG NCC Medallion in recognition of her exemplary dedication and performance. She has actively participated in Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB), Advanced Annual Camp (AAC), and Annual Train-ing Camp (ATC), showcasing discipline, adaptability and teamwork that serve as an inspiration to her peers.

On this occasion, Principal, GDC-Kargil, Diskit Angmo, along with the entire faculty and staff, extended heartfelt congratulations to Lt. Dr. Ujwala Koche and Cadet Zulikha Banoo. Their achievements reflect the spirit of excellence, dedication, and service that GDC-Kargil strives to instill in its community, said the Principal.

She added that “these honours not only bring pride to the institution but also highlight the growing impact of NCC in shaping the future of youth in Ladakh.”DD
