Red Ribbon Club GDC Doda Observed World AIDS Day

Doda,DD, The Red Ribbon Club, Govt. Degree College, Doda organised a meaningful and well-attended programme today on the eve of World AIDS Day, reinforcing this year’s theme “Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response.” The event brought together students, faculty, and representatives from the college’s adopted villages to spread awareness and encourage proactive engagement in the global fight against HIV/AIDS.

The programme was graced by the esteemed keynote speaker Dr. Summat-ul-Khurshid, HOD Pathology, GMC Doda, who delivered an insightful and enlightening address. She highlighted recent advancements in HIV/AIDS management and stressed the importance of early diagnosis, prevention strategies, and removing stigma from affected individuals.

Dr. Javid Iqbal Zargar , Principal, GDC Doda, also spoke on the occasion, appreciating the efforts of the Red Ribbon Club in organising such awareness initiatives. He encouraged students to become ambassadors of health and social responsibility within their communities. Dr. Mudasir, Dr Amit additionally addressed the gathering, emphasising the need for sustained awareness and collective action.

A debate competition was held as part of the programme, attracting enthusiastic participation from students.
• Maneet Singh secured the First Prize,
• Muneeb bagged the Second Prize, and
• Payal won the Third Prize.
The debate was judged by Prof Falak, Prof Sandeep Kotwal and Prof Majid Ghani Zargar.

Representatives from the college’s adopted village DHEDHOT under the Red Ribbon Club also participated in the event. Sadia Batool from UPS Baghoodian and Huzaif from UPS Dhedhot represented their respective schools, showcasing the impact of community outreach initiatives.

The programme was smoothly anchored by Prof. Naz Zargar, Convener, Red Ribbon Club, GDC Doda, whose eloquent compering added grace and coherence to the proceedings. Dr Sandeep Kotwal presented the vote of thanks.

The event concluded with a message of solidarity, awareness, and responsibility, underscoring GDC Doda’s continued commitment to health education and community welfare.DD
