Northern Command Chief Reviews Counter-Terror Measures in Basantgarh

Udhampur, J&K (India): The Chief of Northern Command, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, reviewed the security scenario and counter-terror operations in the mountainous Basantgarh area of Udhampur district in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Army Commander, accompanied by senior Indian Army officers, visited Basantgarh and held deliberations on the ongoing anti-terror operations and the prevailing security situation in the region, which is connected with the higher reaches of Bhaderwah–Seoj Dhar–Basantgarh.

To neutralise emerging threats, the Army Commander was briefed on the coordinated intelligence grid established with the support of various security agencies, including the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Lt Gen Pratik Sharma was also given a detailed presentation on how security measures have been strengthened to counter emerging threats.

During the interaction, the Army Commander stressed the need to further refine the existing security architecture, emphasizing the importance of seamless synergy and constant communication among all stakeholders involved in maintaining peace in the region.

The visit also served as a morale booster for the frontline personnel, as the Army Commander personally interacted with troops deployed in the sector.

Lt Gen Sharma commended the soldiers for their exceptional professionalism, unwavering commitment, and steadfast resolve in the face of operational challenges. He underscored that the continued vigilance and dedication of the troops remain the cornerstone of the Indian Army’s mission to ensure a terror-free environment.
