Kishtwar,(J&K) India; MLA Shagun Parihar today visited the cloudburst-affected Chandali Gahan area of Sarathal to assess the damage caused by the recent natural calamity. Several residential houses and agricultural lands were affected by the incident. Fortunately, no loss of life has been reported.
During her visit, Shagun Parihar met with affected families, listened to their grievances, and conducted a detailed inspection of the damage caused to houses, agricultural land, and crops. Local residents informed her that the cloudburst had severely damaged their farmland and agricultural produce, adversely impacting their livelihoods and economic condition.
Expressing solidarity with the affected families, Shagun Parihar assured them that the government stands firmly with them during this difficult time. She stated that the district administration and concerned departments have been directed to conduct a comprehensive damage assessment at the earliest so that relief and rehabilitation assistance can be provided promptly under various government schemes.
She instructed the concerned officials to expedite the damage assessment process and ensure that relief operations begin without delay. Parihar emphasized that restoring normalcy, ensuring the safety of affected families, and providing financial and material assistance are among the government’s top priorities.
The MLA further stated that she would personally remain in touch with the district administration and relevant departments to ensure maximum assistance for the affected people. She urged local authorities to maintain close coordination with government agencies and mobilize necessary resources for immediate relief as well as medium-term rehabilitation efforts.
She also stressed the need to review and strengthen local disaster management mechanisms and infrastructure to minimize the impact of such natural disasters in the future. Shagun Parihar reiterated her commitment to ensuring that the district administration continues to support the affected families and closely monitor relief and reconstruction efforts until complete restoration is achieved.
Concluding her visit, she expressed complete solidarity with the affected residents and assured them that all stages of relief and rehabilitation would be carried out effectively so that families can return to normal life as soon as possible. She further assured the people that every possible effort would be made to provide necessary facilities and support. Directions have also been issued to the Agriculture Department and Revenue Department officials, including the Patwari, to conduct assessments so that compensation for damaged houses and agricultural losses can be provided to the affected families.
