IIM Jammu Inaugurates Trekking-Based Management Development Programme(MDP) for Leadership Skills for NTPC Managers

Jammu: DD,The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu under the leadership of Prof.
B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu inaugurated a unique trekking-based Management Development
Programme (MDP) for National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC’s) dynamic young leaders at the Prahalad Classroom on 04th Feb 2025. This leadership training program, conducted from Feb 3rd to Feb 5th, 2025, is designed to enhance leadership skills through experiential learning in the picturesque lower Himalayas. The program features seven carefully curated sessions aimed at fostering personal and professional growth.
The inauguration commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, graced by Dr. Ateeque Shaikh, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy (EE &C), IIM Jammu, Dr. Yashoda Devi, Program Director, and Dr. Prakrit Silal, Program Director, IIM Jammu. During the inaugural session, participants introduced themselves and shared their reflections on the trekking experience, highlighting key takeaways on resilience, teamwork, and leadership in challenging environments.
Dr. Ateeque Shaikh, Chairperson, EE&C, IIM Jammu, welcomed everyone and highlighted the institute’s
rapid growth, driven by excellence in academics, research, and executive education. He outlined key
programs, including the MBA in Hospital Administration & Healthcare Management with AIIMS Jammu, IPM, and the Dual Degree Program with IIT Jammu. Emphasizing IIM Jammu’s world-class infrastructure
and expanding initiatives, he stressed the importance of feedback for continuous improvement and encouraged attendees to embrace the institute as their own.
Dr. Yashoda Devi, Program Chair, IIM Jammu delivered the welcome address, outlining the program’s objectives and its alignment with NTPC’s leadership vision. The inaugural event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Prakrit Silal, Program Chair, IIM Jammu.
The program includes field-based experiential learning activities such as trekking in the Himalayas, empowering leadership, team building, sustainability and good governance, conflict resolution, negotiating solutions, intrapreneurship skills, strategic thinking, mastering communication for leadership, and digital transformation. Through initiatives like these, IIM Jammu reaffirms its role in shaping future-ready leaders who can make meaningful contributions to society and industry.DD
