IIM Jammu to Celebrate 10 Years of Excellence on August 22

Jammu, The Indian Institute of Management Jammu will mark a significant milestone in its institutional journey as it celebrates its 10th Anniversary on 22 August 2026 at Mandapam, IIM Jammu. The day-long celebration will commemorate a decade of academic excellence, institutional growth, innovation, research, industry engagement and societal impact, while setting the course for the Institute’s next decade of development.

The announcement was made during a press conference held on 20 August 2026 at IIM Jammu, presided over by Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu. The conference was graced by Prof. Shakti Kumar Gupta, Honorary Distinguished Professor; Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean, Faculty & Research; Prof. Nitin Upadhyay, Dean Academics; and Prof. (Dr.) Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Sunil Kant, Chairperson, MBA (Healthcare), IIM Jammu and Shailesh. K Lohiya, Librarian, IIM Jammu.


The roadmap for the celebrations and the future plans of IIM Jammu was shared during a Press Conference held on 20 August 2026 at IIM Jammu, presided over by Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu. The Press Conference reflected not only on the Institute’s remarkable journey since its establishment in 2016 but also outlined its aspirations and priorities for the years ahead.


Looking towards the next decade, IIM Jammu aims to further strengthen its position as a leading B-school globally, with greater emphasis on research excellence, innovation, technology-enabled learning, industry and international collaborations, interdisciplinary education, entrepreneurship, leadership development and impactful engagement with society. Looking ahead, IIM Jammu’s vision for the next decade is closely aligned with the national aspiration of building a Viksit Bharat @ 2047. The Institute aims to strengthen its contribution to nation-building through excellence in management education, cutting-edge research, innovation, entrepreneurship, leadership development and meaningful industry–academia collaboration.With a focus on nurturing future-ready and socially responsible leaders, IIM Jammu aspires to contribute to the transformation of Jammu & Kashmir and the nation, supporting India’s journey towards becoming a developed, self-reliant and globally competitive nation by 2047. The 10 Year celebrations of IIM Jammu on 22nd Aug 2026 will bring together eminent dignitaries, policymakers, industry leaders, academicians, members of the Board of Governors, alumni, faculty, staff and students to celebrate the past, recognise the present and collectively shape the future.


Speaking at the press conference, Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, said that the Institute’s first decade has been marked by rapid institutional development and a clear transition from an emerging management institute to an institution with a growing national and international presence. He highlighted the Institute’s achievements in academic expansion, research, executive education, entrepreneurship, innovation, industry engagement and international collaboration, while noting that the establishment of multiple Centres of Excellence has further strengthened IIM Jammu’s ability to address contemporary economic and societal challenges.

He further noted that IIM Jammu’s achievement of BGA Institutional Accreditation and EFMD Programme Accreditation for its MBA programme represents an important milestone in the Institute’s pursuit of global standards and continuous quality enhancement. He also highlighted IIM Jammu’s growing visibility in national rankings, with the Institute securing 35th position in NIRF 2025, 25th in Business Today, 20th in BusinessWorld, 13th in India Today and 19th in the IIRF Rankings 2026.He mentioned that the Institute’s ten-year journey reflects a sustained commitment to building an institution that combines academic rigour, research excellence, innovation and societal relevance. He added that the next decade will focus on taking IIM Jammu from growth to greater impact by strengthening high-quality research, innovation and entrepreneurship, expanding global engagement, deepening industry partnerships and developing responsible, future-ready leaders who can contribute meaningfully to Jammu and Kashmir and the nation.

The Institute’s Centres of Excellence provide dedicated platforms for research, capacity building and societal engagement in areas including entrepreneurship and innovation, small business development, diversity and inclusion, happiness and well-being, and innovation and transformation
Prof. Shakti Kumar Gupta, Honorary Distinguished Professor, IIM Jammu, Jammu holds a unique distinction of having three premier Institutes of National Importance, IIM Jammu, IIT Jammu and AIIMS Jammu within the same region.

He emphasised the importance of synergy and collaboration among these institutions, stating that “we cannot work in silos.” He noted that the collective efforts of these institutions, working together with a shared vision, are contributing significantly to the development and progress of Jammu & Kashmir. He mentioned that the journey of IIM Jammu, from its humble beginnings to establishing itself as a distinguished and dynamic institution of management education, is an inspiring story of vision, perseverance, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. He highlighted that the Institute has developed a vibrant and robust ecosystem of education, research, leadership development, and societal impact. He expressed confidence that in the years ahead, IIM Jammu will continue to scale new heights and make an even greater contribution to nation-building, management education, and societal development.

He wished the Institute a bright and successful future, expressing hope that its journey of excellence, innovation, and impact would continue to grow stronger and more inspiring in the decades to come.


Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean, Faculty & Research, IIM Jammu, also highlighted the Institute’s growing research ecosystem and its commitment to creating knowledge that makes a meaningful difference to industry, government and society. He highlighted the strong progress made over the past decade, with greater focus on quality research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and emerging economic, technological and societal challenges. He noted that the Institute’s Centres of Excellence are further strengthening focused research and capacity building, governance. Looking ahead, he emphasized that IIM Jammu will move beyond research excellence to research with impact, building stronger knowledge partnerships and translating ideas into solutions that create lasting value for society. The research agenda will also focus on advancing management best practices and generating economic insights that can inform better governance, policy and institutional decision-making.


Prof. Nitin Upadhyay, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu, highlighted the Institute’s commitment to building a future-ready, diversified and industry-aligned academic ecosystem. Over the past decade, IIM Jammu has expanded its academic portfolio across management, healthcare, technology, AI, Business Analytics and doctoral programme, with strong emphasis on experiential learning, interdisciplinary education, technology-enabled pedagogy and industry exposure .

He noted that programmes such as the MBA, MBA in Healthcare with IIT Jammu and AIIMS Jammu, Executive MBA, Dual Degree B.Tech + MBA with IIT Jammu, Doctoral Programmes, MBA in AI & Business Analytics with the AIT, Thailand, and e-BBA (Hons.) with the Accenture Centre for Advanced Studies reflect this evolving academic vision. Looking ahead, IIM Jammu will deepen AI, analytics, entrepreneurship and new-age learning to nurture agile, ethical and future-ready professionals equipped to lead in a rapidly changing world.
Prof. (Dr.) Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Sunil Kant highlighted the significance of IIM Jammu @ 10, appreciating the Institute’s remarkable journey and its growing contribution to management education. He also emphasised the importance of the MBA in Healthcare and Hospital Management programme in developing skilled professionals and future leaders for India’s rapidly evolving healthcare sector.


Shailesh K. Lohiya, Librarian, IIM Jammu, reflected on the Institute’s remarkable decade-long journey, highlighting how IIM Jammu has steadily evolved into a vibrant centre of knowledge, learning and academic excellence.


The Inaugural Ceremony will be graced by Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, as the Chief Guest. The programme will commence with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana, followed by the felicitation of distinguished guests. Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, will deliver the Welcome Address, followed by an address by Sriram Dandekar Former Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Jammu, and the Presidential Address by Padma Shri Dr. Milind Kamble, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Jammu.

The inaugural session will feature keynote addresses by Shri Shiv Shivakumar, Operating Partner, Advent International, and Shri Anand Kripalu, Operating Partner, Kedaara Capital and Member, Board of Governors, IIM Jammu. A major highlight of the inaugural ceremony will be the release of Coffee Table Books documenting significant milestones and achievements of IIM Jammu’s ten-year journey by the Chief Guest, Shri Manoj Sinha.


A high-level Board of Governors Panel Discussion on “Charting the Next Decade for IIM Jammu” will bring together distinguished representatives from industry and public administration to deliberate on the Institute’s future direction, emerging opportunities and the evolving role of management institutions in India’s changing economic and social landscape.


The session will be moderated by Dr. Vijay Gambhire, Executive Director – India, RGE Group, and will feature Lalit Naik, Director, Noveltech Feeds Pvt. Ltd.; Shri Ranjit Singh, Former MD, Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd.; Smt. R. N. Sharma, IAS, Secretary (Higher Education), Government of Jammu and Kashmir; Shrikant Badve, MD, Belrise Industries Ltd.; Suresh T. Salunke, CEO, Tata Precision Industries Ltd.; Smt. Vandana Bhatnagar, Former Chief Program Officer, NSDC and Senior Institutional Development Specialist, World Bank; and Indraneel Chitale, Partner, Chitale Group.


The first leadership panel, “Impact of AI on Business, Economy and Job Market,” will examine the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence on business models, economic activity, employment patterns and the future of work. The session will feature keynote speakers Shri Bejon Kumar Misra, International Consumer Policy Expert, and Mr. Ilan Hartman, Strategic Partnerships Israel India, Business Development, Defence, Homeland Security Innovation, Former Director, Israel National Aviation Security, along with Prof. Vinita Sahay, Director, IIM Bodh Gaya; Sandeep Chopra, ED Data Management & Technology, Nomura; Shri Brijendra Kumar, Partner & Head, Digital Government, KPMG; Shri Hemant Goutam, Director, National Australia Bank; and Shri Vijay Krishna Garimella, Director, UBS India. The session will be moderated by Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean, Faculty & Research, IIM Jammu.


The second leadership panel, “Impact of AI on Management Education,” will examine how Artificial Intelligence is reshaping management education, pedagogy, institutional practices, skill requirements and future-ready learning. Dr. Pramath Raj Sinha, Founder and Trustee, Ashoka University, will deliver the keynote address. The panel will feature Gurpreet Bhatia, Managing Director, Accenture LearnVantage India Lead; Narayanan Ramaswamy, Partner & National Leader for Education & Skill Development, KPMG India; Dr. Sandipan Sarkar, Partner, IBM Consulting, India; Apoorve Aggarwal, Head – BFSI, CBO Infra Services, TCS; and Ms. Jaya Goyal, Former Member, Board of Governors, IIM Jammu. The session will be moderated by Prof. Nitin Upadhyay, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu.
The celebrations will culminate in a Grand Valedictory Programme, featuring the Presidential Address by Padma Dr. Milind Kamble, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Jammu, and a keynote address by Shri Raj Kumar Chaudhary, Chairman, Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC), UT of J&K and Ladakh.


Jugal Kishore Sharma Member of Parliament, will grace the occasion as the Guest of Honour. A special feature of the valedictory ceremony will be the presentation of Distinguished Service Awards to Industry Partners, International Partners, Faculty, Staff and Alumni in recognition of their contribution to IIM Jammu’s growth and development. The Valedictory Address will be delivered by Kavinder Gupta, Governor of Himachal Pradesh, who will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest.


The celebrations will continue in the evening with “Colours of Jammu and Kashmir,” a special cultural presentation by Padma Shri Balwant Thakur showcasing the rich cultural and artistic heritage of Jammu and Kashmir. The programme will conclude with dinner at the Director’s House Lawn.


Established in 2016, IIM Jammu has built a growing ecosystem spanning management education, research, entrepreneurship, executive education, innovation, industry engagement and community outreach. Its international accreditations, national rankings, Centres of Excellence, expanding academic programmes and growing partnerships reflect the Institute’s institutional progress over the past decade. As IIM Jammu enters its second decade, the focus will increasingly be on quality, impact and global relevance—strengthening academic and research excellence, expanding international and industry collaborations, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, and developing responsible leaders capable of addressing complex challenges.


The 10th Anniversary will therefore be both a celebration of the Institute’s achievements and a reaffirmation of its commitment to the future, building on a decade of excellence to create a larger and lasting impact on management education, research, industry and society, while contributing to the development of Jammu and Kashmir and India’s vision of a developed and self-reliant nation.
