Centre Declares 23 Terror Operatives as Individual Terrorists Under UAPA

DD Correspondent
Srinagar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday announced that the Centre has designated 23 alleged terror operatives as individual terrorists under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), reiterating the Narendra Modi government’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the move is aimed at dismantling terror infrastructure and networks operating against India in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of combating terrorism.

“Pursuing Modi Ji’s vision of zero tolerance against terror, the MHA today declared 23 dreaded terror functionaries as terrorists under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act,” Shah in a post on X.

He said the designated individuals are allegedly involved in anti-India activities, including carrying out terrorist attacks, inciting violence, facilitating cross-border infiltration, trafficking arms, raising funds for terror outfits and recruiting terrorists.

Shah stated that 17 of the 23 designated individuals are Pakistani nationals, while the remaining six are Indian nationals. According to him, all of them are currently operating from Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to national security, the Home Minister said, “The Modi government is determined to rip apart every terror module to shield India and its people.”

The latest action, he said, reflects the Centre’s continued resolve to take stringent measures against terrorism and its support networks.
