Altaf Bukhari Raises Development Concerns in Chanapora Constituency

DD Correspondent
SRINAGAR, Kashmir (India): Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today chaired a meeting with party leaders, senior workers and prominent members from across the Chanapora constituency at the party headquarters in Sheikh Bagh, Srinagar.

The meeting focused on receiving feedback from party members, discussing the prevailing political situation, highlighting public concerns and addressing important organisational matters.

During the meeting, participants apprised Bukhari of several pressing issues being faced by residents of the constituency. They said a developmental deficit continued to persist in several areas, leaving residents without adequate basic amenities.

The participants also expressed concern over the alleged practice of providing public facilities and undertaking development works on the basis of political affiliation. They alleged that areas perceived to support the ruling party were being given preference, while others were being neglected.

They informed Bukhari that several areas, including Umar Colony and adjoining localities, were facing inadequate water supply and alleged that the concerned authorities had failed to address their repeated complaints.

The participants also raised concerns over inadequate power supply and inflated electricity bills, which they said had added to the difficulties faced by residents.

They further highlighted the condition of Chanapora Hospital, saying that the facility, which caters to a large population, continues to lack adequate infrastructure, equipment and professional manpower.

The participants also pointed out that several areas lacked proper drainage systems, causing inconvenience to residents, particularly during rains. Members from Nadergund and adjoining areas highlighted the shortage of basic civic amenities and urged the authorities to address their grievances on a priority basis.

Addressing the gathering, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said the developmental deficit was not confined to a single constituency but was visible across Srinagar city.

He said that despite the people of Srinagar giving a strong mandate to the ruling party, the government had failed to provide even basic facilities to residents.

Bukhari expressed concern over inadequate housing, limited livelihood opportunities, rising unemployment and poor public infrastructure, saying these remained among the major challenges confronting the people of Srinagar.

Meanwhile, several political and social activists joined the Apni Party during the meeting. Bukhari and other party leaders welcomed the new members, including former NC worker Abdul Majeed Wani from Rawalpora Bagwanpora and Younis Mushtaq Sheikh from Mehjoor Nagar.
