ARTO Kishtwar Suspends Permits of 9 Vehicles, Blacklists 30 Vehicles, and Suspends 10 Driving Licenses

Kishtwar, DD: In a major crackdown on traffic violators, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Kishtwar, Tasleem Wani (JKAS), has taken stringent action against habitual offenders to ensure road safety and prevent accidents in the district.

As per the official communiqué, ARTO Kishtwar has suspended the permits of nine vehicles for a period of three months under Section 86(1) of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. Additionally, ten driving licenses have been suspended under Section 19(1)(d) & (f) of the Act, while thirty vehicles have been blacklisted for repeated and serious traffic violations.

The vehicles whose permits have been suspended include:
JK17-0903, JK17A-1656, JK17-2044, JK17-4572, JK17-0049, JK17A-6845, JK17A-1307, JK17A-7574, JK17-6576, and JK17A-7843. These vehicles are now barred from plying on roads during the suspension period.

Speaking on the action taken, ARTO Kishtwar Tasleem Wani emphasized that drivers found violating traffic rules repeatedly pose a serious threat to public safety. “Such reckless behavior is unacceptable, and this operation serves as a wake-up call for habitual violators. Strict adherence to the Motor Vehicles Act is necessary to prevent accidents and ensure passenger safety,” he stated.

The enforcement drive is being carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS), and under the overall supervision of Transport Commissioner J&K, Vishesh Pal Mahajan (JKAS). The Motor Vehicles Department, Kishtwar, is committed to maintaining traffic regulations and preventing road mishaps across the district.
