‘Arrogance Behind Bars’ After Public Outcry: Absconding Thar Driver Arrested By Gandhi Nagar Police

Jammu: DD, Police today claimed to have arrested an absconding driver of Thar that rammed an elderly man and left him critically injured in Gandhi Nagar has been arrested by the police.
“The accused identified as Mannan Anand, son of Rajinder Anand, resident of House Number 62, Sector 4, Nanak Nagar, has been arrested by the police,” a police officer said in a statement here today.


The police said that he absconded after deliberately hitting an elderly person with his Thar during a road-rage, and left him critically injured near the Green Belt Park recently in Gandhi Nagar.
Since the incident, police said that he fled from the spot, and the vehicle owner was detained for questioning. However, the police successfully arrested him.
He was wanted under FIR Number 163 of 2025 under section 281, 125 (a), 109 BNS at the police station Gandhi Nagar. The police have intensified the investigation into the case that has sparked widespread anger against the rash drivers especially SUV Thar.
Meanwhile, the victim elderly man has been shifted out of J&K for specialized treatment from GMC Jammu as per the reports.DD
