Washington, DC / Virtual – The Kashmir Discussion Forum (USA), in association with Kashmir NRI Today – Voice of Global Indians, successfully organized an international Zoom conference focused on “Women’s Right to Equality & Non-Discrimination.” The event brought together participants from the United States, Canada, and India for a meaningful dialogue on legal protections, human rights, and the role of education in advancing gender equality.
The conference, held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, featured Advocate Uma Kapahi, a practicing lawyer from Jammu & Kashmir and President of the Human Rights Council of India (Jammu Chapter), as the Guest of Honor. Advocate Kapahi addressed a range of questions from the audience, highlighting constitutional safeguards, legal rights for women, human rights awareness, and the critical importance of education and societal awareness in combating discrimination.

The session was chaired by Dr. Awtar Krishan Ganju, with Dr. Piyush Agrawal serving as Co-Chair. Sam Zutshi moderated the discussion, while Pradeep Dutta, Senior Journalist, joined live from Delhi. The program emphasized an international perspective on women’s rights, equality, and justice.
