Three More Groups Exit Hurriyat, Amit Shah Says Move Strengthens Modi’s Vision

Diplomat Correspondent

Srinagar, (DD): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday announced that three separatist-aligned organisations in Jammu and Kashmir have disassociated themselves from the Hurriyat Conference, calling it a strong indication of increasing faith in the Indian Constitution within the Valley.

In a statement shared on social media platform X, Shah said: “Three more organizations—Jammu Kashmir Islamic Political Party, Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Democratic League, and Kashmir Freedom Front—have disassociated themselves from the Hurriyat. This marks a significant demonstration of the people’s growing trust in the Constitution of India within the Valley.”

Shah further noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a united and strong Bharat has received a further boost, with a total of 11 such organisations now distancing themselves from separatist ideology and expressing support for the Indian Union.

Since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019—which revoked the region’s special status under the Indian Constitution—the central government has intensified its crackdown on separatist elements. Many Hurriyat leaders have either been arrested or placed under house detention, and several affiliated groups have gradually distanced themselves from the separatist platform.

The latest development comes as the government continues to project a narrative of political normalcy and increased integration of the Union Territory with the rest of India(DD)
