3,200 Constables Inducted into J&K Police

Remain vigilant against evolving threats, says LG Manoj Sinha

JAMMU: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday presented appointment letters to newly recruited constables of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

More than 3,200 newly recruited constables were inducted into the Jammu and Kashmir Police force. On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor urged the recruits to dedicate themselves to defending the unity and integrity of the nation and strengthen the force’s proud legacy.

“We must remain constantly alert and vigilant. The nature of law and order threats and terrorism has evolved, demanding constant and unwavering vigilance against threats that often hide in plain sight,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

He observed that the new recruits must work as a team, as the challenges faced by Jammu and Kashmir require close cooperation among various agencies.

“When we share information, plan strategies and confront the enemy together, we build capacities that no single institution can create alone. India has always embraced peaceful coexistence, mutual goodwill and sincere friendship. Yet we face a neighbour widely known as a source of terrorism. Alongside maintaining law and order, newly recruited constables must stand on the frontline of national security with determination to eliminate terror threats,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor said everyone must work with resolve and efficiency to rid Jammu and Kashmir of fear and terrorism.

“Terror does not sustain itself on its own; it needs money, networks and support systems. Using the full force of law, we must trace and neutralise funding sources, identify every network and dismantle every support system completely,” he said.

He also stressed that along with modern technology, the police force must continue to adopt the fundamentals of traditional policing.

“In matters of law and order, beat policing remains highly effective. When a beat constable resolves that no crime will occur within his or her jurisdiction and that public land will not be occupied illegally, such commitment inevitably delivers results,” he said.

Highlighting the legacy of Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Lieutenant Governor said every uniform represents courage, commitment and service to the nation.

“Each time you wear the uniform, remember that you are adding a proud chapter to its legacy. Take pride in the ideals of service and sacrifice embodied by Jammu and Kashmir Police, as they define both your duty and honour,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor also commended the police for its action against drug smugglers and peddlers during the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Campaign.

“J&K Police has laid out a comprehensive plan to choke drug entry routes completely. I am confident that the measures taken in the coming days will be stringent and yield significant results,” he added.

The ceremony was attended by Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; Nalin Prabhat, DGP J&K; Chandraker Bharti, Principal Secretary, Home Department; S.J.M. Gillani, Special DG Coordination PHQ; Abdul Ghani Mir, Commandant General Home Guards; Dr Mandeep K. Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor, along with senior police and civil administration officials and family members of the recruits.
