Poonch/Jammu: DD, Terrified with unprecedented shelling on targeted civilian areas across the Line of Control by the Pakistan Army, and loss of 12 innocent lives in Poonch, people in large numbers have shifted to safer places, abandoning their homes and cattles.
As per the reports, the people shifted to the residences of their relatives, or camps established by the administration in Poonch.
“Those who could not shift took shelter in the community bunkers,” the reports claim. The report stated that the migrant workers, employees, and the local population shifted out of Poonch City, and its adjoining areas as it witnessed first time shelling from Pakistan.
“The scenes of shelling were horrific as people were running for shelter and there was no place that was not hit with the artillery fire. The bus stand, government buildings, educational institution, and other private properties in Poonch got damaged due to the heavy fire that was opened on the civilian population by the Pakistan Army,” the report, quoting civilian witnesses, said.
It claimed that the people were in fear, and they were looking for buses/tractors/trolleys/ private vehicles so that they could move to safer places.
Meanwhile, the situation in Jammu remained peaceful and most of the public transport remained off the road. The shops in some of the areas remained closed, as per the report because of the precautionary measures.DD
