Defence Correspondent
New Delhi: Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh met Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of National Defence, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang, in New Delhi on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral defence cooperation, regional security and the Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Vietnam.

The two sides discussed accelerating joint initiatives, technology sharing and defence industrial cooperation. They reaffirmed their commitment to expanding maritime and defence ties to promote a peaceful, stable and rules-based regional security architecture.

India and Vietnam also emphasised closer coordination in multilateral forums, particularly through the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus), and highlighted the role of its Experts’ Working Groups in strengthening collective security in the Indo-Pacific.

Both sides agreed to hold the next Defence Policy Dialogue in India on the sidelines of Aero India 2027.

The meeting reflects the growing momentum in India-Vietnam defence ties and builds on the strategic vision outlined by the two Prime Ministers during the BRICS Summit.
