Kishtwar: DD, The Rural Development Department (RDD) Kishtwar, under the able guidance of Pankaj Kumar Sharma, JKAS, District Development Commissioner, Kishtwar, and Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Kishtwar, today successfully conducted an online sensitization workshop on the Tobacco Free Campaign.
The workshop, supervised by Mohd Ashraf, Assistant Director, Planning (District Nodal Officer, Tobacco Free Campaign), was attended by Panchayat Secretaries from all Gram Panchayats in the district, who participated through virtual mode.
Yassir Rashid, Resource Person, provided detailed insights into the enforcement of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) 2003 and the steps required to declare Tobacco Free Panchayats.
Participants were emphasized to implement all provisions of COTPA in their respective Panchayats and work towards creating a tobacco-free environment.
A question-and-answer session was conducted at the conclusion of the workshop, providing an opportunity for participants to clarify their doubts and seek guidance.
The workshop is part of the district administration’s efforts to promote public health and reduce the prevalence of tobacco use in the region.
