Srinagar, Oct 10 (TDD): The J&K’s Chief Minister designation and the National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah today presented the letters of support to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan here and also staked claim on government formation.
Omar met LG this evening at Rajbhawan and presented letters of support from NC, Congress, AAP, CPI(M) and Independent legislators. Talking to reporters on his return from Raj Bhawan, Omar said: “I met LG and presented the letters of support from NC, Congress, Aam Admi Party(AAP) and independents. I also staked claim on government formation and urged the LG to give us date so that we can take oath and new government starts functioning. We were told it would take a few days.”
Omar said that J&K is a UT and governed by Centres rule. “The LG office will have to prepare papers now and forward the same to Rashtrapati Bhawan and then Home Ministry in New Delhi,” said Omar, adding that if all goes well, oath ceremony will take place on Wednesday.
NC wrote on ‘X’ that CM designation Omar Abdullah called on Lieutenant Governor of J&K Manoj Sinha at Rajbhawan in Srinagar to stake claim to form the next government. “He also submitted all the letters of support. The raj Bhawan has informed that the procedure for the revocation of President’s rule in J&K commenced tonight and is expected to take 3 to 4 days . The upcoming CM and his team will take the oath as soon as the procedures are completed,” the NC wrote on X.
Pertinently, Omar was unanimously choosen NC’s Legislature Party leader in a marathon meeting held at Nawa-e-Subh headquarters. Earlier, in the day, J&K Congress party held Legislature Party meeting in Srinagar where they decided to present the letter of support from its six legislators to NC. The recently concluded polls saw the downfall of Congress that fought Assembly polls in a pre-poll alliance with NC. The party could only bag just six seats.

NC swept Kashmir by pocketing 42 seats on its own. NC tally has mounted to 46 as four independents, rather NC rebels, also extended letter of support to party. Meanwhile, sources said NC-Congress alliance party meet will take place tomorrow (TDD)
