SRINAGAR, Kashmir (India): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today hoisted the National Flag at Lok Bhavan on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day. A ceremonial police contingent presented the National Salute.

Paying tribute to freedom fighters and martyrs, the Lieutenant Governor said their sacrifices should inspire citizens to work with integrity and safeguard the hard-earned freedom. He also paid homage to civilians who lost their lives in natural calamities this year.

Expressing confidence in India’s potential to emerge as a global leader, Sinha called for an inclusive society focused on public interest, compassion for the underprivileged and balanced growth.

He stressed the need to empower women and youth, generate employment and ensure environmental sustainability. He highlighted initiatives to revive heritage sites, restore ancient monuments and undertake large-scale afforestation as examples of the government’s commitment to sustainable development.
The Lieutenant Governor urged citizens to contribute actively towards building a self-reliant Jammu Kashmir and Viksit Bharat by 2047, while stressing transparency and accountability in governance.

He congratulated J&K Police and CAPF personnel who received gallantry medals on the eve of Independence Day and commended sportspersons for bringing laurels to the Union Territory.
