Kathua Police Destroys Narcotics Worth ₹2.33 Crore

Kathua: In a major crackdown against drug trafficking, J&K Police Kathua, today claimed to have destroyed a huge consignment of narcotic drugs weighing approximately 174.981 kg, along with 1,945 capsules and tablets, with an estimated market value of ₹2.33 crore.


The destroyed contraband included 2.05 kg of heroin, 1,036 capsules, 909 tablets, 7.68 kg of ganja, 162.649 kg of poppy straw, 2.126 kg of charas, and 482 grams of opium.


The destruction was carried out at M/s Anmol Healthcare, Rara, under Police Station Ramgarh in Samba district, by a police team led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua, Ms. Mohita Sharma, IPS, after obtaining approval from the competent authority and following the prescribed legal procedure for incineration.


The narcotics had been seized in 43 different NDPS cases registered by J&K Police Kathua and were stored in various police malkhanas. The drugs were incinerated after completion of all legal formalities in accordance with the provisions of the law.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Kathua reiterated the police’s commitment to its anti-drug campaign and said the district police would continue taking stringent action against drug traffickers and ensure the timely disposal of seized narcotics as per legal procedures.
