New Delhi: The Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO) showcased the Union Territory’s rich handloom, handicraft and textile heritage at Bharat Tex 2026, held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from July 14 to 17.
Around 20 exhibitors from across Jammu and Kashmir participated in the J&K Pavilion, displaying a wide range of traditional and contemporary textile products before domestic and international buyers, exporters, retailers, designers and industry stakeholders.
The pavilion featured premium handmade products, including GI-tagged Pashmina and Kani shawls, Kashmiri carpets, Pashmina rugs, wool stoles, scarves, chain-stitch rugs and handcrafted bags, highlighting the region’s exceptional craftsmanship and cultural heritage.
The exhibition provided local artisans, weavers, cooperatives and MSMEs an opportunity to showcase their products, establish business linkages and explore new domestic and international markets.
A major highlight of the event was the visit of New Zealand’s Minister for Rural Communities and Associate Minister for Agriculture and Regional Development, Mark Patterson, who toured the J&K Pavilion along with a high-level delegation.
The delegation interacted with exhibitors and appreciated the craftsmanship, handloom traditions and quality of products on display. They were also briefed about Jammu and Kashmir’s heritage in wool, Pashmina, handloom and handicrafts, as well as opportunities for sustainable value chains, technology exchange and trade cooperation between India and New Zealand.
JKTPO Managing Director said participation in such events reflects the organisation’s commitment to providing global exposure to artisans, weavers and entrepreneurs of the Union Territory.
Throughout the four-day exhibition, the J&K Pavilion attracted significant footfall from buyers and industry professionals from India and abroad, generating substantial business enquiries and opening new avenues for market expansion.
The visit of the New Zealand delegation also underscored the growing potential for international collaboration in the wool and textile sector, with both sides expressing interest in partnerships focused on innovation, sustainability, value addition and market development.
