Amit Shah Pays Tribute to Kargil Heroes, Hails Army’s Bravery

DD Correspondent
NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday paid tribute to the martyrs of the 1999 Kargil War, describing Kargil Vijay Diwas as a symbol of the Indian Army’s unmatched courage, exceptional valour and supreme sacrifice.

In a post on X, Shah said that despite the harsh weather, rugged terrain and the enemy’s strategic positions on the snow-clad Himalayan peaks, Indian soldiers displayed extraordinary bravery and forced the enemy to retreat during Operation Vijay.

“Kargil Vijay Diwas is a symbol of the Indian Army’s unmatched valour and extraordinary heroism. Despite adverse conditions and the enemy’s strong positions, our brave soldiers compelled the enemy to its knees through Operation Vijay,” he said.

The Home Minister paid homage to the soldiers who laid down their lives to safeguard the nation’s unity and territorial integrity, saying their sacrifice would always be remembered with deep respect and gratitude.

India observes Kargil Vijay Diwas every year on July 26 to commemorate the Armed Forces’ victory in the 1999 Kargil War and honour the courage, dedication and sacrifice of the soldiers who defended the country’s sovereignty.
