Jammu:DD, Under the ongoing Water Conservation Campaign, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has accelerated its mission to revive traditional water bodies and natural sources across multiple wards within its jurisdiction.
In a significant step toward strengthening urban water sustainability, JMC Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav today visited water bodies in Ward No. 55, Deeli, and Ward No. 68, Ratnu Chak, to assess the progress of restoration efforts.
During the inspection, Dr. Yadav reiterated the crucial role of conserving age-old water sources, stressing that these natural assets must be protected from encroachment and degradation.
He stated that the JMC has initiated a comprehensive plan to redevelop, restore, and secure these water bodies, ensuring they remain functional and beneficial for the community.
He further highlighted that developing these sites and establishing adequate water supply arrangements will not only preserve heritage water structures but also play a significant role in recharging and improving the groundwater table across the areas.
The Commissioner’s visit underscored JMC’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable urban development. He also urged local residents and civic bodies to participate actively in safeguarding natural water resources.
Among others, Joint Commissioner (Works) Firdous Ahmed Qazi, Health Officer JMC, Dr. Vinod Sharma, Executive Engineer Division 5. Yasir Bashir Kichloo, along with other senior officers and field staff of the Jammu Municipal Corporation accompanied the Commissioner during the tour.DD
