Handwara Police Organises Awareness Program on New Criminal Laws at Govt. High School Shartgund Bala

Handwara,DD, Continuing its outreach and public awareness initiatives, Handwara Police today organised an awareness-cum-interactive program at Government High School Shartgund Bala on the theme “New Criminal Laws – Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA)”.

The program witnessed enthusiastic participation of students, teachers, and local residents. Resource persons from Handwara Police sensitized the participants about the key features of the newly enacted criminal laws, highlighting how these reforms are victim-centric, technology-driven, and aimed at speedy justice delivery.


The speakers explained in simple terms the important changes introduced in the new laws including:
Provisions related to women & child safety.
Stringent measures against organized crime, terrorism, and cyber offences.
Emphasis on forensic-based investigation.
Time-bound trials and improved transparency in the justice system.
The audience was also encouraged to remain vigilant against drug abuse, cyber frauds, and other social evils, and to actively cooperate with the police in ensuring peace and harmony in the society.
On the occasion, participants raised queries which were answered by the police officers in detail.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the school administration, who appreciated Handwara Police for their efforts in spreading legal literacy and community awareness.DD
