Farmers’ Protest in Punjab Disrupts Train Services, Affects Pilgrims Visiting Mata Vaishno Devi

The Diplomat Desk

Jammu :TDD- In a major disruption, farmers’ protest in Punjab brought the train services to standstill, causing inconvenience to those going to and returning from Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. Data available with railway administration said that both the Vande Bharat trains from Katra have remained cancelled since Monday.

Rail officials confirm that the Swaraj Express between Delhi and Katra was also cancelled in both directions on Tuesday. Devotees, therefore, have been adversely affected by this rail problem, coming at a time when many want to get back to their destinations after paying their respects at the shrine.

The impact of the protest on transportation has left several pilgrims stranded and worrying about their return journeys. The cancellation of these major train services, including premium Vande Bharat trains, has caused immense hassle for religious tourists visiting the holy shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi.

This has directly been a consequence of the protest movement of farmers who have compelled the railway authorities to alter their operations at a number of important routes connecting Delhi and Katra, an important pilgrimage center.TDD
