Exemplary step taken by DIET Kargil to support children with special needs with educational transition to special school cum hostels at Leh

Diplomat Correspondent

Kargil, DD: DIET Kargil monitoring team has identified two special needs students from MS Sarchay who are both deaf and mute and therefore unable to hear or speak.

In response to their specific educational requirements, the team worked closely with the special educator from the CEO office of Kargil to assess their needs and make informed decisions about their future education.

After a thorough evaluation, it was decided that the students would benefit from a specialized learning environment. Consequently, DIET Kargil decided to shift both students to a dedicated hostel for special students in Leh. This transition will ensure that the students receive the appropriate support, education, and care tailored to their unique needs.

The Principal of DIET Kargil issued instructions to contact the students’ family members and seek their consent for the move. With the agreement of the families, the students were officially transferred to Leh on April 8, 2025, in an official vehicle, accompanied by escorts from DIET Kargil to ensure their safety and comfort throughout the journey and today finally their admission in hostel as well as in the special school has been done properly.

DIET Kargil remains committed to providing inclusive education and opportunities for all students, particularly those with special needs, ensuring that they have the best possible resources for their academic and personal growth.

The parents have expressed their appreciation for the efforts made by DIET Kargil to provide the best possible education and support for their children.DD
