Corruption Allegations Rock Kishtwar Helipad, Passengers Demand Justice

Imran Shah

Kishtwar, (DD): Serious allegations of corruption and misconduct have surfaced at the Kishtwar helipad, with passengers accusing two employees of accepting bribes and arbitrarily allocating helicopter seats on the crucial Kishtwar-Marwah route.

In a formal complaint addressed to MLA Inderwal, Pyare Lal Sharma, complainants Jalib-ul-Haq, Farooq Ahmed, and Adham Hussain have accused two persons of allegedly manipulating the reservation process, depriving rightful passengers, including the sick and needy, of their seats.

“When we intervened and questioned their actions, they misbehaved and used abusive language against us,” the complainants alleged, urging authorities to launch an immediate investigation and take strict action against those responsible.

The Marwah region heavily relies on helicopter services due to its remote and difficult terrain. The allegations have sparked public anger, with residents demanding a transparent and fair ticketing system to prevent such malpractice.

Authorities are yet to respond to the complaint, but with growing pressure from passengers and civil society, locals hope for swift intervention to restore fairness and accountability at the helipad. The report will be updated if any response is received. (DD)
