Cop Suspended in Doda for Alleged Misconduct, Enquiry Ordered into Assault on VDG Member

Doda, DD: The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Sandeep Mehta (JKPS), has suspended a police constable following allegations of misconduct and assault on a Village Defence Group (VDG) member.

Officials said the accused, SgCt. Mohd Zia of Police Post Premnagar, has been placed under suspension with immediate effect and attached to District Police Lines (DPL) pending further proceedings.

A departmental enquiry has been initiated, with a senior officer appointed to conduct a comprehensive probe. The report has been sought within two weeks.

The conduct of the then SHO Police Station Thathri, DySP (Prob.) Afeer Jaleel, will also be scrutinized as part of the enquiry. The enquiry officer has been directed to assess his role and submit detailed findings for further action.
