BJP Defers Protest Over Rain Tragedy

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma announced the postponement of the party’s proposed protest programmes in solidarity with victims of the recent cloudburst and flash floods in Rajouri and Poonch.

Addressing a meeting of party workers and local residents at Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, Sharma accused the ruling National Conference (NC) of neglecting relief efforts and focusing on political issues instead.

He said the BJP had deferred its proposed Secretariat Gherao March in Srinagar, along with other protest programmes across Jammu and Kashmir, to ensure that rescue and relief operations continue without disruption.

“The BJP has always placed the interests of the people above politics. At a time when families have lost their loved ones, homes and livelihoods, our priority is to stand with the affected people,” Sharma said.

He alleged that the National Conference was more focused on raising the issue of statehood than addressing the hardships faced by people affected by the natural disaster.

Sharma urged the NC leadership to prioritise relief and rehabilitation efforts instead of pursuing political agendas. He also announced that senior BJP leaders would soon visit the affected areas to assess the situation and extend support to the victims.

Reviewing organisational matters, Sharma directed party workers to ensure the successful conduct of the upcoming Mann Ki Baat programme at every booth with maximum public participation. He also stressed strengthening booth-level organisation and ensuring timely digital reporting of party activities to improve coordination and outreach.
