Two Terrorists Neutralised in J&K’s Basantgarh Forests

Udhampur, Jammu (India): Security forces today claimed to have neutralised two terrorists, suspected to be Pakistani, during an encounter in the Jophar forests of Basantgarh in Udhampur district.

Troops of the Counter Insurgency Force (CIF) Delta Force of the Indian Army, along with the Special Operations Group (SOG) of J&K Police and the CRPF, laid a joint cordon during the operation in the Jophar forest area.

The area had been under a crackdown by security forces after the presence of terrorists was reported in the forest region. Personnel led by CIF Delta Force troops launched an anti-terror operation.
During the coordinated operation, security force personnel established contact with the terrorists on February 3, 2026. Immediately, the cordon was tightened, and all entry and exit points were blocked.

Following a calibrated and coordinated response, the Indian Army’s defence spokesperson said that two terrorists were neutralised.

“The operation was conducted with seamless inter-agency coordination, tactical precision, and high standards of professionalism,” he added.
Although the operation has been successfully concluded, security forces have continued surveillance in the hilly terrain connecting Kathua’s remote areas with Basantgarh–Dudu–Seoj Dhar, Bhaderwah, and the Chenab Valley.
A similar search operation is also underway in Kishtwar to hunt down Pakistani terrorists. DD
