DC Udhampur inspects damaged stretch on NH-44 at Bali Nallah, supervises load testing

UDHAMPUR, DD, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Saloni Rai today visited the affected site of the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) at Bali Nallah to review the progress of restoration. She supervised the load testing being carried out on the repaired portion.

Restoration work on the damaged stretch is underway on war footing. The DC directed the concerned agencies to ensure speedy yet safe restoration to facilitate smooth movement of vehicles. With continuous efforts, the highway is likely to partially reopen by this evening to allow passage to essential supplies and Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs), subject to weather conditions and safety clearance.

The District Administration has assured that all possible measures are being taken to restore full connectivity at the earliest, while appealing to commuters to follow traffic advisories and avoid unnecessary travel until normal movement is fully restored.DD
