11 BSF, 9 Army personnel among 177 rescued from flooded areas across the division

Jammu: DD,The Indian Army has launched extensive Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations in flood-affected areas of Jammu region, rescuing more than 177 people, including 11 BSF troops, 9 army personnel, Sher-e-Kashmir Agricultural University Students (R.S. Pura road) from flood hit areas.
According to the army, they have deployed multiple rescue columns and helicopters to evacuate stranded civilians, students, and security personnel.
As per the defence spokesperson, four rescue columns were deployed at different locations in Jammu on 26 August evening.
The Army conducted a rescue operation in Garhi Garh, RS Pura Sector in which seven civilians, including one child, were rescued. The operation was successfully completed.
At Shergarh, RS Pura Sector, the army rescued around 10–12 civilians trapped inside a building.
Similarly, the rescue teams reached Sher-e-Kashmir University, R.S. Pura road in Jammu where the rescue efforts are underway to evacuate students stranded inside a university building where they are struck due to flood like situation.
In Swahanjana, the army’s rescue column is working to evacuate students trapped at a Government School.
Besides, Mamun Sector Operations, the defence spokesperson, said that a coordinated ground and helicopter rescue missions are ongoing in which they have airlifted seven civilians to Taragarh Government Senior Secondary School from village Kachle.
At Shahpur Kandi, the army rescued two trapped persons from the flood water using helicopters.
Eleven Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, who were deployed at the Border out Post (BoP) Nikka, were trapped in the flood water. However, the Indian army evacuated them safely.
Bhariyal: evacuation underway for about 50 civilians and nine Army personnel trapped at the post.
Zainpir Kukkar: helicopter rescue operations in progress.
Amli village: Nine civilians rescued with helicopter assistance due to landslides and inaccessibility.
Nad village: Rising water levels hampered ground rescue; civilians were successfully evacuated with the help of police boats.
Makaura village: nearly 70 civilians stranded by floods have been shifted to safety using boats.DD
