MARCH FOR STATEHOOD RESTORATION: JKPCC Chief among many leaders detained in Jammu during march towards Raj Bhawan

SARVJEET SINGH
JAMMU:DD, Police today detained several leaders including J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Chief Tariq Hameed Karra and many senior leaders, and workers during a protest march towards Raj Bhawan.
However, the march was foiled by the strong contingent of the police on the Residency Road, as per a Congress leader.
A peaceful protest march was organised by the JKPCC from Shaheedi Chowk in Jammu towards the Raj Bhawan to submit a memorandum demanding restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.

The protest was led by JKPCC Chief Tariq Hameed Karra and other leaders. When the protesters tried to break through the police barricades, a minor scuffle took place.
To prevent them from proceeding further, the police detained JKPCC President along with many other leaders and hence, the march was foiled.
The Congress leader told Diplomat Digital that the police have released all the detained leaders.
Karra told the media that the JKPCC will continue protest demonstrations in support of the statehood restoration, and the same shall be highlighted in the scheduled Parliamentary session.DD
