Diplomat Correspondent

Leh: DD, Authorities in Leh on Friday imposed restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, to maintain public order and peace in the area.

The order issued by District Magistrate Romil Singh Donk (IAS) followed inputs from police about a possible disturbance to public tranquillity within Tehsil Leh.

The order prohibits processions, rallies, or marches without prior written permission and restricts the use of loudspeakers unless approved by the competent authority.
It also bans statements that may incite unrest and forbids the assembly of five or more persons within the jurisdiction.

The order, passed ex-parte, warns that violations will attract punitive action under Section 223 of the BNSS, 2023. The restrictions take effect immediately to ensure peace and stability in the region. (KNC)
