Police Recover Stolen Vehicles, Arrest Vehicle Lifter in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR:DD – The Udhampur Police successfully arrested a vehicle lifter and recovered two stolen vehicles, including a Bullet motorcycle and a scooty, following swift action on a theft complaint.

The case came to light when Sunil Singh, a resident of Barrian, Udhampur, reported the theft of his Bullet motorcycle from Slathia Chowk on January 12. Acting promptly, the police registered FIR No. 21/2025 under Section 303(2) BNS at Police Station Udhampur and formed a special investigation team.

Through technical surveillance and intelligence gathering, the team identified and apprehended the accused, Rohit Atri alias Nittu, son of Romesh Kumar, a resident of Dalsar in Ramnagar tehsil of Udhampur district.

During interrogation, Atri confessed to the theft. The investigation led to the recovery of not only the recently stolen Bullet motorcycle but also a scooty (registration number JK19 A4162) that had been stolen on December 29, 2024.

The police are continuing their investigation to uncover any potential links to other vehicle theft cases in the region.DD
