Police Raid Houses of Top Separatist Leaders in Srinagar, Sopore Under UAPA Probe

Srinagar,(DD): Police conducted raids at multiple locations in Srinagar and Sopore, targeting the residences of top separatist leaders as part of an ongoing investigation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

According to officials, the searches were linked to cases involving banned organizations, including:
Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference (Bhat Group)
Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League (Masrat Alam Group)
Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (Shabir Shah Group)

The raids were carried out in Rajbagh, Habba Kadal, Batmaloo, Khanyar, Lal Bazar, and Chanpora, with police searching the residences of Masrat Alam, Shabir Shah, Professor Gani, and others.

Authorities confirmed that the searches were legally sanctioned and conducted in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses. Many of the leaders whose homes were searched are currently lodged in different jails.

The operation is part of a broader crackdown on suspected unlawful activities and organizations operating in Jammu and Kashmir.(DD)
