The Diplomat Desk

Srinagar, (TDD): In a significant blow to the drug trade, police in the Awantipora area of Pulwama district today attached the property of notorious drug dealer Tajamul Masoodi, valued at approximately Rs 25 lakh.

The seized property, a single-storied residential house in the Bagander area of Pampore, was confiscated under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. This move is part of a larger initiative to disrupt the drug trafficking networks that have caused widespread harm in the region.

The house, identified as illegally acquired, was found to be purchased using the proceeds from Masoodi’s involvement in the narcotics trade. A detailed investigation led by SHO Pampore, under the guidance of SDPO Pampore, revealed that the property was funded by Masoodi’s illicit drug-related activities. Tajamul Masoodi, a well-known figure in the local drug trade, is currently under detention under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act and is held at Central Jail Kot Balwal, Jammu.

This operation has garnered praise from the local community, with many hailing it as a significant step in curbing drug-related crimes and restoring peace to the area. The action serves as a clear message that authorities are committed to tackling the drug menace by targeting both the individuals responsible and the assets acquired through illegal means.

Police officials have reiterated their dedication to combating drug abuse and trafficking, urging the public to support their ongoing efforts to eliminate narcotics from Kashmir (TDD)
