Srinagar, TDD,The police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district have taken a major step in combating the drug trade by attaching properties worth ₹1.72 crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler, Rafiq Ahmad Khan, also known as Rafi Rafa. This action is part of a focused crackdown on narcotics trafficking in the region.

Rafiq Ahmad Khan, a resident of Trikanjan Boniyar, Baramulla, had reportedly amassed wealth through illicit narcotics trade. The attached properties include two double-storied houses located in Chowadhi, Jammu, and Trikanjan Boniyar, along with three vehicles: a Tipper, a Trailer, and a Scorpio. Investigations revealed that these assets were acquired using proceeds from illegal narcotics and psychotropic substances trafficking.

The operation was carried out under Sections 68-E and 68-F(1) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and is linked to case FIR No. 134/2016 registered under Sections 8/21 and 29 NDPS Act at Police Station Gangyal, Jammu.

This decisive action sends a strong message to those involved in the drug trade, reaffirming the police’s commitment to dismantling financial and operational networks linked to narcotics trafficking. By targeting the proceeds of crime, authorities aim to prevent the reinvestment of ill-gotten wealth into further illegal activities.

The public has widely appreciated this move, recognizing it as a necessary step in the fight against the growing drug menace in Jammu and Kashmir, and a crucial effort toward ensuring a safer, drug-free society.(TDD)
