Passed directions for release of salaries to NHM employees: Minister Sakina Itoo

Diplomat Correspondent

Srinagar, (DD): Health and Medical Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Wednesday announced that she has issued directions for the immediate release of pending salaries to National Health Mission (NHM) employees in Jammu and Kashmir.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Sakina Itoo reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the welfare of healthcare workers and assured them of timely support for their services.

“Have passed the directions for the release of salaries of NHM employees. The government remains committed to the welfare of healthcare workers and ensuring timely support for their invaluable services,” she stated.

The announcement comes after NHM employees had raised concerns over prolonged salary delays, which had caused financial distress among them. Many employees had urged the government to address the issue at the earliest, emphasing the challenges they faced in managing household expenses and sustaining their families.

The NHM workforce, which includes doctors, nurses, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals, plays a crucial role in delivering healthcare services across Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in rural and remote areas. They have been at the forefront of public health initiatives, vaccination drives, and pandemic response efforts.

While the minister’s assurance has provided some relief to the employees, NHM workers are also seeking a long-term solution to the issue of salary delays. Many have been advocating for a more streamlined payment system to ensure financial stability and motivation in their work.

The release of salaries is expected to boost morale among NHM employees and reinforce the government’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare sector in Jammu and Kashmir(DD).
