Pahalgam Terror Attack: Grand Mufti of India Strongly Condemns the Violence

Diplomat Correspondent

New Delhi: DD, Grand Mufti of India, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, calling it a heinous assault on the peaceful life of the nation.

In an official statement issued, the Grand Mufti said the timing of the attack—when tourists from across India and around the world are visiting the valley—reveals a deliberate attempt to instill fear, disrupt the region’s growing harmony, and destabilize the livelihoods of the Kashmiri people.

“The objective of such attacks is to halt the inflow of visitors to Kashmir by creating panic and destroying its peaceful atmosphere, thereby pushing the local population back into a life of uncertainty and turmoil,” he said.

Asserting that terrorism can never defeat the spirit of India, the Grand Mufti emphasized that the country has consistently stood firm in the face of such challenges and will continue to do so with resilience and unity.

He further urged the authorities to ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice and called for proactive measures to restore normalcy in Kashmir, allowing its residents to return to a stable and dignified life.

The Grand Mufti expressed deep condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in the attack, stating, “We share in their grief and pray for strength and peace for the bereaved.”DD
