Srinagar, (DD) In a move seen as both administrative and symbolic, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired a high-level Cabinet meeting in the scenic town of Pahalgam on Tuesday. The session comes in the wake of last month’s terror attack that claimed 26 lives, including 25 tourists.

Speaking after the meeting, the Chief Minister said the government would not be cowed by terrorism. “Our resolve is stronger than ever. Jammu and Kashmir will not bow to fear. We remain united and determined to move forward,” he stated.

This marked the first time a Cabinet meeting was held in Pahalgam. Officials said the decision was intended to reinforce a sense of normalcy and rebuild public and tourist confidence in the region.

Earlier in the day, National Conference president Dr. Farooq Abdullah praised the move, calling it a powerful message of peace. He encouraged citizens across India to visit the Valley and appealed to the Ministry of External Affairs to reconsider existing travel advisories against Jammu and Kashmir.

The government emphasized that restoring stability and reviving tourism remain key priorities. Efforts are underway to reassure visitors and stakeholders that the region is safe and secure(DD)
