Srinagar:DD, Inspector General of BSF Kashmir Frontier, Ashok Yadav said that security forces are maintaining maximum vigilance along the Line of Control (LoC) to counter infiltration attempts by terrorists ahead of the winter season.

Speaking to reporters at BSF Headquarters Humhama during the unveiling of the T-shirt for the upcoming Wular Half Marathon 2.0 under the “Save Wular” initiative, IG Yadav said, that the BSF, in coordination with the Army, has already thwarted two infiltration bids this year.

“We have deployed advanced surveillance tools and strengthened our presence along both the LoC and international border. Any attempt to breach the border will be responded to firmly,” he said.

Highlighting the seasonal spike in infiltration before snowfall, the IG said that terror operatives often attempt to cross the border in September and October. “With two months left before heavy snow sets in, we are anticipating more such attempts but are fully ready to deal with them,” he added.

He also confirmed that launch pads across the border remain active, particularly opposite Bandipora, Kupwara and Baramulla.
“Terrorists are trying to disturb peace, but their plans will be foiled through joint efforts and continuous surveillance,” Yadav said.

Speaking about evolving tactics, IG Yadav noted that infiltrators are now using minimal communication to avoid detection.
“Despite their changing strategies, our intelligence grid is strong enough to intercept their movements.”

He said that BSF has adopted a multi-tier security system that includes night patrolling, ground sensors, thermal imaging and coordinated operations with other forces.

Earlier, the IG launched the official T-shirt of the Save Wular Run with Bordermen marathon, scheduled for October 12, 2025, during a ceremony held at Hungul Officers’ Institute, Humhama, in the presence of senior BSF officials, civil dignitaries and local participants. (KNC)
