Kathua :TDD, Kathua witnessed a unique protest today as members of the Students Socialist Federation (SSF) took to the streets wearing face masks to highlight the alarming levels of air pollution in the district. Carrying placards with slogans like “Wake up Pollution Board” and “SSF Against Air and Water Pollution,” the protesters demanded immediate action against industries contributing to the pollution crisis.

SSF District President Harmeet Singh addressed the media, expressing concern over the increasing air pollution levels, particularly in the wake of numerous industries in the region. While acknowledging the employment opportunities provided by these industries, Singh emphasized that the right to clean air and water is a fundamental right enshrined in Article 21 of the Indian Constitution. He criticized the government’s failure to protect citizens from harmful pollution, which has led to deteriorating air quality and respiratory problems.

With Kathua’s Air Quality Index (AQI) soaring to 350, Singh highlighted the severe impact of pollution on the health and well-being of the local population.TDD
