Srinagar, (DD):In a strong push to rejuvenate tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today met with a delegation from the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) and discussed concrete measures to project the region as a premier, safe, and welcoming travel destination.

During the interaction, the Chief Minister assured full government support to the tourism industry and emphasized the Valley’s readiness to host tourists from across India and abroad.

“Kashmir is not just open but fully prepared to offer travelers a secure, scenic, and soulful experience,” Abdullah posted on his official X handle.

The IATO, in a statement, praised the UT administration’s efforts in enhancing tourism infrastructure, improving accessibility, and ensuring 24×7 safety measures for visitors.

“From trained tourism officers to round-the-clock police support, the government’s efforts are clearly visible. There’s a palpable sense of safety and hospitality in every corner,” the delegation noted.

Tour operators who recently toured Pahalgam, Srinagar, and surrounding areas described the atmosphere as “peaceful, vibrant, and tourist-ready.”

They urged media houses, influencers, and the travel fraternity to highlight positive developments from Kashmir and help dispel outdated apprehensions.

“We appeal to our members and global travel networks to confidently promote J&K. The Valley is welcoming, its people warm, and the experience unforgettable,” said IATO.

The meeting marks a renewed public-private push to reposition Kashmir not just as a scenic escape—but as one of India’s most secure and visitor-friendly travel hotspots.(DD)
