Jammu,DD: In order to strengthen local security and enforce the District Magistrate’s directions, Jammu Police, South Zone has booked a house owner for failing to conduct mandatory tenant verification.
An information was received at Police Station Bahu Fort that a house owner had accommodated tenants in their premises (paying guest) without conducting their mandatory police verification.
Police said that this act is in clear violation of the directions issued by the District Magistrate Jammu which mandate all landlords to verify their tenants at the concerned police station before allowing them to stay.
During preliminary enquiry, it was found that the accused, Vipen Gupta, resident of Jagannath Enclave, Trikuta Nagar, District Jammu, had rented out his property i.e. paying guest under the name M/S Guruji Home at Adarsh Colony, Trikuta Nagar to multiple tenants without submitting their verification details at the police station.

Accordingly, an FIR has been registered under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Bahu Fort. Further investigation into the matter is underway.

The general public is once again requested to strictly adhere to the tenant verification guidelines issued by the District Magistrate. Non-compliance will invite strict legal action under relevant provisions of law.DD
