Handwara Police Conducts SIM Vendor Checking Drive in Main Town Handwara

Diplomat Correspondent

Handwara,DD, In line with the continued efforts to strengthen preventive measures against the misuse of SIM cards for unlawful and anti-social activities, Handwara Police today conducted a special drive to check SIM vendors in Main Town Handwara.

The drive was carried out under the supervision of senior police officers, during which multiple SIM card selling outlets were inspected. The vendors were thoroughly checked for adherence to the guidelines issued by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and law enforcement agencies.

During the inspection, emphasis was laid on the mandatory verification of customer credentials before issuance of SIM cards. Vendors were counseled about the consequences of negligence in verification processes, which could lead to serious misuse of mobile connections by anti-national and anti-social elements. They were also directed to maintain proper documentation, including customer ID proofs and related records, in accordance with prescribed norms.

Handwara Police has made it clear that strict legal action will be initiated against those vendors found violating the rules or indulging in irregularities in the issuance of SIM cards. The vendors assured full cooperation and adherence to the laid-down norms.

Such drives will continue in the future across the Police District to ensure accountability, enhance security measures, and prevent any possible misuse of telecommunication services.DD
