GRP JAMMU REUNITES CHILD FROM BIHAR WITH HIS PARENTS

Kathua:DD, On 27th August 2025, during routine patrolling, the team of Police Station GRP Kathua found a child roaming at Platform No.1 of Railway Station Kathua.

On questioning, the child disclosed his identity as Kanehiya, S/o Kapuri Thakur, aged 10 years, resident of Telyar, District Nalanda, Bihar, presently residing at Devla, P/S Surajpur, District Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. He further stated that he had mistakenly boarded the Train kolkatta ( Sealdah) Express, which was later short-terminated at Railway Station Kathua.

Following due procedure, the child was safely handed over to the team of Child Helpline Kathua for further care and protection, and subsequent presentation before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Kathua.

The parents of the child have been informed telephonically through the concerned police station. Today on 28-05-2025, the parents of the Child reached police station GRP Kathua and were produced before CWC Kathua. After due verification and completion of all legal formalities, the CWC Kathua handed over the Child to his parents on proper reciept. The family thereafter proceeded towards Delhi by a special unreserved train.
This timely action by GRP Jammu ensured the safe reunion of the Child with his parents.DD
