Drive against minor drivers reaches Ganderbal, many vehicles driven by minors seized

SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir announces zero tolerance against minor drivers

The Diplomat Desk

Srinagar, (TDD): In a bid to ensure road safety and enforce traffic regulations, the traffic authorities in Ganderbal district led by SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir R.P. Singh today launched a zero-tolerance campaign against underage driving.

The drive resulted in the seizure of dozens of vehicles operated by minors without valid licenses. This action comes in the wake of a tragic accident in Tengpora, Srinagar, that claimed the lives of two minor students, prompting widespread concern about the dangers posed by underage and untrained drivers.

SSP Singh highlighted that minors driving without licenses not only endanger their own lives but also pose a serious threat to public safety. He emphasized that underage drivers lack the necessary training, experience, and understanding of traffic rules, making them more prone to accidents and unsafe driving practices. To tackle this growing issue, the campaign includes regular vehicle inspections, hefty fines for offenders, and legal action against parents or guardians who permit minors to drive. Authorities are determined to strictly enforce these measures to ensure compliance with traffic laws.

In addition to enforcement, the campaign focuses on raising awareness about the consequences of underage driving. Educational programs are being conducted in schools and communities to inform young individuals and their families about the risks involved and the legal repercussions of violating traffic laws. By combining stringent enforcement with awareness initiatives, the administration aims to reduce traffic violations, prevent accidents, and foster a culture of responsible road use in the region. This comprehensive approach seeks to make roads safer for everyone while instilling accountability among both minors and their guardians.(TDD)
