CM’s Adviser Counters LG on Transfer Controversy: “We also Know Our Jurisdiction”

Srinagar, (DD): Nasir Aslam Wani, Adviser to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, today responded to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s remarks regarding the recent transfer of 48 JKAS officers, asserting that the elected government is fully aware of its jurisdiction and committed to operating within the bounds of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act.

Speaking to reporters, Wani stated, “We also want the business rules and the limitations outlined under the Reorganization Act of 2019 to be followed in letter and spirit.”

He emphasized that the administration led by the Chief Minister is functioning strictly in accordance with the legal framework and expects the same standard to be maintained across all tiers of governance.

His comments follow LG Manoj Sinha’s statement a day earlier, in which the latter defended the officer transfers as being within his legal powers under the Reorganization Act. The exchange marks a subtle but significant divergence in how both constitutional offices interpret administrative authority in post-election Jammu and Kashmir (DD)
